Andrea Mura is the most successful Italian sailor of recent years.
Winning line honours in the OSTAR 2013 aboard his Open 50 Vento di Sardegna and with wins in the challenging Route du Rhum, the Twostar (two handed transatlantic race from Plymouth, UK) and the Transat Quebec - Saint Malo. Andrea won the Twostar IRC handicap category and set a new race record. He made racing history by winning the Transat Quebec-Saint Malo; not only being the first monohull to finish but setting a new record too.
In 2014 he finished second in the Route du Rhum after 20 days, 2 hours, 19 minutes and 36 seconds of solo sailing.
In 2016 he won the Roma x 2 for the fifth time, while on October 28th 2017 at the Royal Western Yacht Club in Plymouth he won the OSTAR for the second time in 17 days and 4 hours, with a 4 days lead over the second placed boat.
In 2017 he once again competed in the OSTAR, an infamous year with some of the most challenging weather conditions seen in the history of the race. Andrea won the race with a 600 mile lead on the next finisher.
